I cleared my PMP on 26th may 2014. I have gone through all the three books PMBOK, RITA MULCAHY'S and HEAD FIRST. During preparation I made few notes. so the material has been picked up from all the three books and these are just the key points.
NOTE : IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ONE SHOULD READ THESE POINTS IN DETAIL FROM THE BOOKS (which ever interests you more) AND ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED A THOROUGH READING, YOU CAN GO THROUGH THESE POINTS FOR CONSOLIDATION.

- The sponsor is the person who pays for the project.
- Project charter authorizes the PM to do the project.
- Big part of project management part tells you how to handle a changes when problems come up.
- What to do when you encounter a change : consult the project management plan
- Where will you find Scheduling and configuration management information : PMIS
- How well your team performed : WPI (work performance information) : by measuring how well the processes from each knowledge area are being performed
- Direct and Manage Project Work : where you and your team actually do the project work. to produce the deliverable
- DELIVERABLE : every single document, Plan, Schedule, Budget, Blueprint, incl all project management documents
- PERFORM INTEGRATED CHANGE CONTROL : get your change approved from the change control board, review the change and document its impact.
- DEFECT : what you wanted to happen at the first place did not happen. it does not need to be documents the PM plan.
- PREVENTIVE ACTION : change the way you are doing the work , you see problems even though they have not happened yet.
- CORRECTIVE ACTION : when you make a course change on your project
- Defect Repair also has to be approved by the CCB
- CHANGE CONTROL : how you deal with changes to your project management plan
- CHANGE CONTROL SYSTEM : Set of procedures that let you make those changes in an organized way
- corrective or preventive : all changes have to go through the CCB
- FORECAST : when people predict problems
- you always have an authority to change your project (make changes) if they dont affect cost schedule or scope (or the other constraints)
- INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT : making sure that all the processes work together seamlessly to make your project successful
- WORK AUTHORIZATION SYSTEM : ensure that every work package is performed at the right time and in the proper sequence
- Who decides the priority of the changes : PROJECT MANAGER
- Once a change is requested, all of the work that you do fall under Perform Integrated Change Control
