PMP Preperation

There are mainly three books for the preparation of PMP

1. PMBOK from PMI
2. Rita Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep
3. Head First

PMBOK is a book from PMI and it has everything you need to know for giving the PMP exam. Then why look at other books? I can explain this with a small example. we have a GPS and many times when we are driving it says "you have entered in a parking infringement regulation area"  which simply means this is a no parking zone.
and this is the difference between PMBOK and other books. The language of PMBOK is difficult to understand and even more difficult to retain while the others are able to explain the same things in a much simpler and easy way. I shall explain how one should switch between these books as we progress on this track.
 Now the question is

IS IT A MUST TO GO THROUGH SO MUCH OF MATERIAL ???

My answer would be "yes". if you want a sure shot success in one go i think one has to. not thoroughly though. you might like one topic from this and the other from this. its totally up to your liking and your understanding. it will widen your horizon and will keep your interest alive. also the other two books, then PMBOK, give you lots of practice questions and these are really good.

RITA MULCAHY'S :- too many lists but a very good collection of practice questions after every topic. and few of the topics are explained really well.

HEAD FIRST :- an amazing book. things are explained with the simplest of examples . interesting and extremely easy. but yes "easy" is the problem. practice questions are really easy. its not that easy in an exam but i found this book the best to start your preparation. Once you know the easy it becomes easier to understand the tough :)

***There is one more book which i have not gone through but I did get few notes from the friends who have read this and the content quality was really good. It's by Andy Crowe. Infact there were few topics which we could get only in Andy Crowe's book

keep following the new posts and please feel free to ask questions
